Data migration: secure, automated and reliable data transfers

Data migration is a critical process for any company wishing to modernize its information system, adopt a new business tool or switch to a Cloud infrastructure. It involves transferring all your information (databases, files, business histories, application content) to a new environment, while guaranteeing its integrity, security and availability.

At IT Systèmes, we carry out secure, planned data migrations, adapted to the technical and regulatory constraints of each organization. Our role is to ensure a smooth, loss-free transfer, whether it's a migration between SQL databases, a switch to a new application (CRM, ERP, accounting tool), or a complete transformation of your storage environment.

Our expertise in data migration

Audit and mapping of existing data

We analyze all your data sources (relational databases, files, business applications, messaging, etc.) to identify volumes, dependencies and information quality. This detailed mapping enables us to prioritize critical data and define an appropriate transfer strategy. We also highlight any redundancies and inconsistencies to prepare a cleaner, more optimized environment.

Migration between databases and heterogeneous systems

Switching from SQL Server to MySQL, from Oracle to PostgreSQL or from local storage to a Cloud cluster requires specialized expertise. Our teams are experts in conversion protocols and tools to guarantee total compatibility. We also manage the recovery of schemas, indexes and relationships to preserve the performance and reliability of your systems. This approach ensures a seamless transition and a fully operational environment right from the start of production.

Business data transfer (CRM, ERP, financial tools, EDM)

When changing business tools, data migration is often the most sensitive point. We ensure that your historical data, transactions, documents and specific parameters are correctly integrated into the new solution. We also carry out business consistency tests to ensure that the transferred data can be used immediately by your teams. This expertise guarantees functional continuity and productivity gains right from the start.

Security and regulatory compliance

Each migration is carried out in compliance with current regulations (RGPD, industry standards, ISO 27001). We implement encryption, authentication and traceability mechanisms to protect your sensitive data. Systematic backups and recovery plans are integrated to avoid any risk of loss. So you benefit from a secure, legally compliant migration.

Big Bang strategies or synchronized progressive migration

Two strategies are possible. The Big Bang switchover performs the transfer and activation in a single window, ideal when dependencies are under control and downtime is acceptable. Soft migration synchronizes old and new systems via FlexFlow: change capture (CDC), incremental replication and consistency checks enable a batch transition, service by service, without double entry. The old system is decommissioned only after full validation.

Post-migration optimization

More than just transferring data, we optimize its quality and accessibility. We put in place governance policies, cleansing rules and monitoring tools to ensure the longevity of your environments. This optimization phase enables you to take full advantage of your new tool or infrastructure, with simplified and reliable data exploitation.

FAQ Data migration

Which data are affected by a data migration?

Data migration can involve all types of information stored within an organization: relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL), analytical data warehouses, office files, network shares, EDM content, business application data (CRM, ERP, HR, accounting), or even data lakes. At IT Systèmes, we cover all these perimeters, whether transferring data between internal servers, to the Cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP) or between SaaS applications. Our aim is to ensure that your information remains consistent, accessible and usable, whatever the new medium.

Big Bang or gradual migration?

Both strategies offer advantages, depending on the context.

Big Bang migration involves transferring all data in a single, planned operation. It enables a rapid, seamless switchover, often carried out over a weekend or during a period of low activity.

The gradual migration, made possible by our FlexFlow tool, continuously synchronizes data between the old and new systems. This enables temporary cohabitation and step-by-step changeover (service by service, batch by batch), without double entry or disconnection. This method is ideal for multi-site organizations, mission-critical environments or large volumes of data, as it considerably reduces risks and guarantees a smooth transition.

How can you prevent data loss or corruption during migration?

Data security and integrity are top priorities. IT Systèmes applies a rigorous methodology that includes complete backups, pilot migrations and automated integrity checks before, during and after the switchover. Each batch of migrated data is verified by means of volumetric comparisons, hashes and consistency checks. In the event of an anomaly, automatic alerts ensure immediate correction. A roll-back plan is systematically drawn up and tested prior to production start-up, guaranteeing rapid restoration in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

What to do with duplicates, inconsistencies or obsolete data during migration?

Migration is an excellent opportunity to improve the quality of your data. We implement standardization, de-duplication and repository enrichment processes. Duplicates are identified and removed, formats are harmonized and business anomalies are corrected before transfer. Our tools can also be used to define a master repository (MDM) to ensure consistency between different systems. These operations ensure that only reliable and useful data is migrated, thus boosting the performance of your business applications.

How can RGPD compliance and data security be guaranteed?

IT Systèmes integrates security and regulatory compliance into every phase of the project. All personal data is processed according to the principles of the RGPD: minimization, consent, retention period and traceability.Transfers are encrypted from end to end (TLS, SSL, AES), access is strictly controlled and audit logs keep track of every action. We also ensure the separation of environments (production, test, pre-production) to avoid any risk of leakage or mixing of sensitive data. Our procedures comply with ISO 27001 standards, guaranteeing the confidentiality, integrity and availability of migrated information.

Can you migrate to or from the cloud without degrading performance?

Yes, and it's one of our main areas of expertise. Whether you're moving from a local environment to Azure SQL, Amazon RDS, Google Cloud SQL or between two Cloud platforms, IT Systèmes optimizes transfers through stream compression, data partitioning and parallelized pipelines. We schedule transfers outside normal business hours (HNO) and dynamically adjust bandwidth to avoid network saturation. After the switchover, we apply a FinOps approach to keep Cloud costs under control without compromising performance.

How do you manage dependencies between applications during migration?

Before each migration, we carry out a complete mapping of application dependencies. This includes exchange flows between your business tools, APIs, automation processes and external systems. Thanks to FlexFlow, we ensure synchronization between the old and new systems, to avoid any break in processing chains. Interconnected applications (CRM, ERP, BI, etc.) continue to function normally throughout the migration. End-to-end testing then validates functional consistency.

How long does a complete data migration take?

The duration depends on the volume of data, the number of systems involved and the method chosen. A simple database migration can be completed in a few days, while a multi-application migration involving several terabytes can take several weeks.
IT Systèmes plans the migration in several phases: preparation, testing, pilot migration, changeover and stabilization. The entire timetable is aligned with your business constraints to minimize the impact on production and guarantee business continuity.

How much data can IT Systèmes handle?

We have carried out migration projects on environments ranging from a few gigabytes to several tens of terabytes, with databases containing several hundred million records.
Thanks to FlexFlow and our optimized pipelines, we can process large volumes in parallel, while maintaining perfect data consistency. Our processes include quality and performance checks to validate the success of the migration, whatever the volume to be transferred.

What happens to the old system after the switchover?

Once the migration has been validated, we can maintain the old system in read-only mode for a defined period, while we validate data completeness and stability. We then proceed with controlled decommissioning: final export, secure purging, regulatory archiving and deletion of obsolete accounts or accesses.
Each step is documented and validated with your business and security teams to guarantee compliance and traceability.
